ADVANCING RACIAL EQUITY IN

COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROJECT

Project Title

COVID Disruptions and Calls for Racial Justice: How Equity Leaders Continue Racial Equity Efforts in Community College [College Futures Foundation Grant #20-06546].

Project Period

18-month project [Start Date: 11/16/2020 End Date: 5/31/2022]

Project Purpose

This project explores and documents the ways racial equity efforts in community colleges are influenced and altered by the COVID-19 crisis and amplified calls for racial justice. Rather than just observe what is being done at each campus, myself and research team, will be advocates in their race work and assist each student equity leader in moving racial justice efforts forward. Over 18 months, we will provide four California community colleges support in creating, developing, and sustaining strategies proposed in their equity plan as well as emerging ones from the renewed attention on racial inequality.

Public Deliverables

As part of the project, we have various public deliverables including action guides, briefs, free and accessible webinars, and a Student Equity Convening. If you'd like information about the briefs, webinars, and convening, join the Project Communication Listserv.
